Jersey has a temperate maritime climate, with mild winters and not too warm summers. According to the Köppen climate classification, the Channel Island of Jersey has a Cfb climate. Due to its location off the coast of France, it benefits in the winter months from the warm Gulf Stream, which provides relatively warm seawater. A consequence of the warm seawater is that the air temperatures in the winter months do not easily dip below freezing.
