The Turks and Caicos Islands are an archipelago off the coast of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The islands used to belong to Jamaica and are still part of the United Kingdom. The capital of the Turks and Caicos Islands is Cockburn Town; in total, more than 36,000 people live on the archipelago. The archipelago consists of 8 islands, two of which are uninhabited. The best time to travel for a holiday to the Turks and Caicos Islands is from January to April, with March and April being considered the best months. During the day it is wonderfully warm with maximum temperatures of around 27 to 30 degrees. There is a chance of a rain shower. On average, this is the driest period with precipitation amounts of about 35 to 50 millimeters per month. The sun shows up a lot, but a few clouds in the sky is not unusual. The clouds are less present in the first four months of the year than during the other months.

Warmer summers

From May you notice that it gets a bit warmer. The month of May is also slightly wetter on average. The combination of these two factors makes it feel a bit clammier, despite the slightly cooling effect of the trade wind. The period from July to September is the hottest time of the year. On average, the maximum temperatures are around 31-32 degrees Celsius. It rarely gets warmer than 34-35 degrees. If you want to travel to the Turks and Caicos Islands during the summer holidays, it is best to choose July or otherwise August. September is often a bit more unstable. This is the quietest month in the Turks and Caicos Islands in terms of tourism. That often results in better hotel room rates.

Hurricanes

The Turks and Caicos Islands are located in an area prone to hurricanes. The hurricane season officially starts at the end of June and lasts until the beginning of December. During the months of August, September and October, there is an increased chance of bad weather due to hurricane activity nearby. On average, once every few years, the Turks and Caicos Islands themselves are confronted with a severe tropical storm or hurricane.
