Where is the country of Grenada located? Grenada is a country in the Caribbean Sea, located less than two hundred kilometers north of Venezuela. In addition to the main island of Grenada, a number of the Grenadines also belong to the country of Grenada. The country is part of the Lesser Antilles and was part of the United Kingdom until 1974. The trade winds also provide the supply of tropical depressions and storms. During hurricane season, which begins in late June and continues through early December, the storms can reach wind speeds as high as hurricane-force winds. The hurricane

Grenada is located in an area prone to hurricanes. Heavy tropical depressions can form above the relatively warm seawater of the Atlantic Ocean, which can develop into a tropical storm or even a hurricane. Its relatively southern location within the Caribbean means Grenada is less likely to experience hurricanes than the islands further north. However, it can occasionally be a hit in Grenada. Heavy wind and heavy rain can cause considerable nuisance and damage. As a tourist you are lucky that hotels take protective measures in time if a hurricane is on the way. Evacuation is also an option if necessary. The hurricane season starts in June and lasts in early December.
